Exam Format

The CSE for Landscape Architects is a completely written multiple-choice exam. There are no graphics - no pictures or diagrams - and no drag & drop elements like in the LARE exams. Also unlike the LARE exams, only 1 of the 4 answers is correct. In fact, the computer will not let you choose more than 1 answer.

All 125 questions are written. All 4 answers to each question are written. Pick one of the 4 answers.

You can "mark" any question you'd like to re-visit later. Mark any questions you're unsure about.

You will have 2 hours to complete the exam.

Make sure to READ THE QUESTION AND ALL 4 ANSWERS CAREFULLY. The exam is tricky. There is implied information and subtle language nuances. In some questions, all 4 answers seem to apply. Pick the best of the 4.

The best part of the CSE is that you will find out immediately after exiting the testing room if you passed or failed.

If you failed, you will have to wait 3 months before you can take it again.

If you passed, congratulations! You are now a Licensed Landscape Architect in the state of California. Have a bottle of champagne chilling in the fridge at home in case you get this good news.
